How to Sunday Soup.jpg

InCUBATE was a Chicago-based research institute and artist residency program located at 2129 N. Rockwell, Chicago IL. We were dedicated to creating alternative approaches to infrastructures for arts administration and funding. InCUBATE focused on organizational strategies that provided direct support to critical, socially engaged art and culture beyond traditional for-profit or non-profit structures. The core organizational principle was to treat art administration as a creative practice. The work of InCUBATE manifested in a series of traveling exhibitions called Other Options, a residency program for visiting artists and activist, a series of lectures, and a monthly community meal and micro-grant program called Sunday Soup. With attendance priced at ten dollars per person, the revenue generated by Sunday Soup was granted to support the creative project decided upon by the popular vote of the diners.
